The main component of Crystal Retinal line is Retinaldehyde or Retinal, a derivative of retinoic acid, which must undergo only one transformation in the skin to begin actively act on cells. This short transformation way makes it more active and faster than retinol or retinyl palmitate. In addition to all the benefits that the stimulation of retinoic receptors has, such as the reduction of wrinkles and pore size, firming of the skin and lightening of the pigment, retinal has a mild antibacterial effect, making it an excellent choice among other retinoids for treating acne.
The main feature of Crystal Retinal products hides in the first word Crystal - it means that the ingredient is encapsulated, but not in order to go deeper, retinal doesn't need it, but in order to slow down its action. If you give the same concentrations of retinal without capsules, it immediately binds too many retinoic receptors and starts at one moment all the processes too quickly. At the same time, retinal will influence on the mass of TRPV receptors of pain and irritation, which could accelerate the latter. So you could get the retinoic dermatitis, red skin and so on. Encapsulation slows down the action, skin enzymes slowly destroy the capsules releasing the retinal into the intercellular space.
The Crystal Retinal line has a concentration of 0.01%, 0.03%, 0.06%, 0.1% and 0.02% retinal (numbers 1, 3, 6, 10 and 20 respectively). The formula is absolutely identical for all concentrations. Also, we have here the stable forms of vitamin C 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid and Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate. Concentrations 0.01% and 0.03% are very gentle, good for sensitive skin or as a start, 0.06% - fully working, 0.1% - not all the types of skin can withstand. We like to start anyway with lower concentrations and look at the effect, though we do not have a single case of dermatitis on Crystal Retinal from our customers.
